Salesperson

About the Role

Entry-level sales position supporting the DIY business, achieving sales and service objectives. The role requires knowledge of store systems, basic automotive systems, and parts, as well as the ability to source from various suppliers. In-depth understanding of store inventory and maintenance processes is essential. The position can be part-time or full-time, with fleet safety certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls
• Achieve personal sales goals and help the store meet its sales targets
• Perform DIY services, including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
• Maintain store product and operational standards
• Manage inventory processes, such as truck put-away, shootouts, cycle counts, and backstock
• Ensure store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot
• Assist with general stocking, including truck stocking and backstock
• Safely deliver parts to customers as needed

Requirements

• Basic driving and navigation skills
• Ability to use the delivery board system
• Friendly communication skills
• Ability to locate and stock parts
• Safety knowledge and skills
• Proficiency in operating inventory systems and store equipment
• Knowledge of parts and automotive systems
• Experience operating POS and parts lookup systems
• Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services

Qualifications

• Speak and write English (Spanish a plus)
• Effective communication skills to build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
• Availability to work a variety of days, evenings, and weekends

Skills

• 2-3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences

Physical Demands

The employee will predominantly be walking or standing, with frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee will primarily work indoors but will occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. They may also encounter moving mechanical parts, high places, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
