Salesforce Solutions Lead
About the role
Summit School Services companies share a strong commitment to providing the highest level of transportation safety, quality transportation, outstanding customer service, and positive employee relations. Our corporate headquarters, located in Warrenville, Illinois, houses the administrative and corporate support functions for the organization. Our 250+ local customer service centers (CSCs) are supported by regional operations teams located throughout North America. We are seeking a Salesforce Solutions Lead to own end-to-end delivery of Salesforce initiatives across our enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery on every initiative: problem definition, solution design, stakeholder alignment, development oversight, testing, and deployment — not just the coding phase
- Lead story grooming for all work assigned to the team: every story must have a documented problem statement and functional/technical design, reviewed and aligned with the Director before development begins
- Lead recurring stakeholder and cross-functional standups (e.g. CPQ/Billing) — set the agenda, drive discussion, and deliver specific, contextual status updates
- Proactively surface risk, scope, and dependency considerations before committing to timelines or solutions
- Validate all code against current production behavior before any deployment request; be prepared to explain and defend every change
- Maintain a clear change log for every release documenting all components touched or created
- Lead the design and development of custom code solutions leveraging Apex, JavaScript, Visualforce, and Lightning components across multiple Salesforce Clouds, including Sales/Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Account Engagement, and Conga Contracts/CPQ/Billing
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and solution architecture
- Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and governance for Salesforce development
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Salesforce-related initiatives
- Act as the project SME for deployment and release management tools, best practices, and source control
- Define, manage, and execute environment and deployment strategy
- Run data deployments (sandbox seeding) to test features
- Run production releases and be able to roll back or restore if needed
- Stay current with Salesforce releases, features, and industry trends
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve system performance and user experience
- Drive automation and efficiency through advanced Salesforce capabilities
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (preferred)
- Experience: 5+ years of Salesforce development experience, 3+ years in a role with demonstrated end-to-end ownership — not just technical leadership, but direct accountability for stakeholder relationships, requirements gathering, and delivery outcomes in an enterprise environment
- Demonstrated experience leading recurring stakeholder meetings or standups and owning the agenda and outcomes
- Prior experience with multiple Salesforce clouds — Sales/Service Cloud required; Marketing Cloud and Conga CPQ/Billing preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce APIs, Experience with integration tools, Strong understanding of Salesforce security model and data architecture, Experience building technical artifacts including configuration design documents and technical design documents, Experience executing deployments and use of DevOps tools, Revenue Cloud (CPQ/Billing) experience or certifications preferred
- Certifications: Salesforce Advanced Administrator (required), Salesforce Platform Developer II (required), Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect (preferred), Salesforce Integration Architecture Designer (preferred)
- Ownership & Leadership Skills: This role requires someone who leads first and builds second. We are prioritizing candidates who demonstrate strong judgment, proactive communication, and accountability — even where that means a narrower technical range than a pure development role would require. Proven track record taking a problem from ambiguous to scoped without being handed a fully-groomed task, Comfortable being the primary voice in front of business stakeholders, including those more senior in the organization, Self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, Proven project management expertise with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and processes, Detail and quality oriented, with the judgment to flag risk before it becomes a production issue, Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills for a variety of audiences and situations
