About the role

The Data Governance Architect will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise-wide data governance capabilities for a leading organization in the Retail & Supply Chain industry. Based in Dallas, TX or San Francisco, CA, this is a strategic, high-impact opportunity for a data leader.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Establish governance processes that improve data quality, integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with business leaders, data owners, stewards, architects, and engineering teams to drive governance adoption across key business domains.
  • Define and enforce data standards, metadata management practices, and data lifecycle management strategies.
  • Lead initiatives focused on data quality, master data management (MDM), stewardship, and governance maturity.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to embed governance controls into modern data platforms and analytics solutions.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable data management and governance strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on data governance, risk management, compliance, and enterprise data strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Management, or related disciplines.
  • Proven track record of designing and operationalizing enterprise data governance programs at scale.
  • Experience partnering across business and technology organizations to drive adoption and organizational change.
  • Deep expertise in data quality, metadata management, data stewardship, governance operating models, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting retail, apparel, merchandising, customer, product, supply chain, or eCommerce data environments.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and lead strategic initiatives from concept through execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Retail, Apparel, Consumer Products, or Supply Chain organizations.
  • Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives.
  • Experience with governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting cloud modernization, digital transformation, or enterprise data platform initiatives.
