Sales Team Manager (on-site)

About the role
We are seeking an energetic Sales Manager to lead our small but dedicated sales team in the dynamic agricultural industry. This multifaceted role involves driving customer acquisition, increasing revenue growth, and overseeing direct sales efforts. You will collaborate with upper management and our marketing team to devise strategic sales and marketing plans, manage the marketing budget, and ensure campaigns align with our brand identity. The role requires hands-on involvement in day-to-day sales while providing coaching, guidance, and accountability to the sales team. Your analytical skills will be critical in optimizing sales strategies, and you will serve as the primary contact for sales-related issues, relying on proactive problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Assist in determining price schedules and discount rates
- Identify shipping issues through direct involvement to improve invoice clarity, efficiency, productivity, and safety
- Assist in preparing budgets and budget expenditures
- Collaborate across departments to promote a free flow of information and ideas
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, and subordinates on contracts, advertising media, and product selection
- Coordinate and manage sales activities
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and maintain operational records
- Ensure all customers, internal and external, are kept informed of issues while promoting superior customer service
- Manage and lead the sales team, including staffing, training, and performance evaluations
- Monitor customer preferences to determine sales focus
- Oversee sales staff and plan sales and service programs
- Prepare and present advertising, promotional materials, and sales presentations
- Provide support during the introduction of new products and services
- Deliver up-to-date and accurate sales reports (current, goal, trend, etc.)
- Resolve customer complaints and issues to ensure optimal service
- Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability
- Stay informed on industry trends, innovations, and changes affecting media planning
- Represent the company at trade association meetings to promote products
- Escalate additional customer needs to prevent dissatisfaction
Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience
- Commitment to a 1-year tenure to understand the sales cycle and achieve desired results
- Willingness to work 50+ hours per week, including occasional Saturdays (2-4 per month) and remote work as needed
- Availability during peak agricultural seasons and customer deadlines
Pay
Salaried position at $55,000 per year plus commissions, with expected yearly earnings of $75,000–$100,000 based on commission targets.
Schedule
- Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays (2–4 per month)
- Additional hours may be required during customer deadlines and agricultural seasonality
- Occasional remote work
