Sales Representative, GCI
About the Role
The GCI Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales of Caterpillar’s Global Construction & Infrastructure (GCI) products and solutions. This includes earthmoving, excavation, and load & haul equipment, as well as aftermarket services such as Customer Value Agreements (CVAs). The role emphasizes delivering customer value through financing programs, maintenance agreements, and fuel-saving initiatives while partnering with the dealer network to provide bundled solutions.
Responsibilities
- Promote and sell Caterpillar GCI machines, solutions, and CVAs.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities.
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
- Prepare accurate quotes and proposals for equipment and bundled solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer needs and recommending tailored solutions.
- Document all customer interactions and provide regular sales reports.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on GCI products and solutions within the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery, training, and support.
- Influence customer decision-making through consultative selling strategies.
Requirements
- Familiarity with GCI products (excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, articulated trucks).
- Ability to explain and sell CVAs, financing options, and fuel-saving programs.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or related field preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must wear PPE when required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–3 years of sales experience in heavy equipment or construction solutions.
- Experience with financing programs and aftermarket service agreements.
- Technical certifications related to heavy equipment or machine control technology.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar technology solutions.
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based with regular travel within assigned territory.
- Frequent visits to construction sites and customer locations.
- Occasional office work for reporting and administrative tasks.
- Exposure to site conditions may occur; personal protective equipment must be worn in required areas.
