This is a territory sales position with the Florida Department of the Lottery, serving territories in Broward and Dade County. This position requires the sale and marketing of Lottery products and servicing Lottery retailer accounts within their assigned territory. Responsibilities

  • Utilize effective sales techniques to promote and increase the sale of Lottery products.
  • Provide, place, and update point-of-sale materials including, but not limited to, maintenance of the play station and placement of dispensers and lottery vending machines.
  • Communicate positive and current information about the Lottery and its products to retailers.
  • Provide training and guidance to retailers on effective methods for increasing ticket sales and integrate into core product sales.
  • Identify, contact, and recruit potential retailers.
  • Assist potential retailers in completing and submitting applications and collect application fees.
  • Analyze individual retailer sales, recommend improvement to the retailer to increase sales and establish goals with the retailers.
  • Explain Lottery policy and procedures to Lottery retailers, potential retailers, and others.
  • Educate retailers and others on programs supported by the Lottery.
  • Perform retailer suspensions or terminations as needed and/or directed.
  • Represent the agency at events, presentations, and speaking engagements as assigned.
  • Participate in sales events. Plan, structure, explain, and implement statewide and retailer specific promotions, which may include set-up and breakdown of promotional props, display items, and moving of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Resolve issues with Lottery retailers and players regarding Lottery sales, tickets, and supplies distribution.
  • Resolve issues relating to retailer contracting.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with district management regarding issues and concerns as they arise in the assigned territory.
  • Answer and return all phone calls in a timely fashion.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars as directed by management.
  • Take timely and appropriate actions regarding instant ticket inventory management including timely instant ticket returns.
  • Maintain games for display.
  • Maintain daily paperwork including, but not limited to, vehicle logs, timesheets, and any others required by departmental policy in a timely fashion.
  • Document all call activity in provided mobile sales tool. Utilize data in mobile sales tool to increase sales at retail locations.
  • Document marketing and other activities related to the territory as required.
  • Operate and maintain state vehicles in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Operate a motor vehicle as required to fulfill the duties of the position, which may include overnight trips.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform ADA compliance functions.
  • Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of the Lottery's Responsible Gaming program, including the No Underage Play and Play Within Your Means messaging, and will ensure retailers and players are aware of the program and provided information, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Successful passing of a criminal background check (state, local, and national) is required.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units. The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data.
  • Valid Driver license.

  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work a schedule which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently.
