About the Role
This position involves coordinating inside counter sales and rental of new and used equipment within an assigned branch to achieve profit goals.
Responsibilities
- Safety
- Maintain a safety-conscious work environment both inside and outside the store.
- Adhere to all safety rules and policies without violation.
- Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) rules and regulations.
- Ensure all safety rules and policies are consistently enforced.
- Sales Acumen and Ability
- Maintain a positive attitude and answer phone calls with a smile.
- Identify customer needs and provide the best available solutions through active listening and consultation.
- Offer additional solutions and opportunities beyond the initial scope of equipment requests.
- Engage in negotiation and upselling to maximize sales opportunities.
- Follow up to ensure unsigned contracts are completed.
- Open new customer accounts, pass leads within the organization, and grow company market share.
- Maintain a clean and presentable showroom, professional appearance, and demeanor.
- Assist in meeting and exceeding branch and company goals for rental and sales of equipment.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service.
- Collaborate within a team environment across all operational facets.
- Rental Customer Transactions
- Write accurate reservations, open and close contracts, and handle distribution via mail or email.
- Manage invoicing and collection of payments on cash customer accounts.
- Ensure all aspects of transactions are handled timely and accurately.
- Customer Service and Operations
- Convey the highest level of quality customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Answer incoming customer phone calls, text messages, walk-ins, online leads, and customer chats efficiently.
- Address internal and external customer requests quickly and effectively.
- Assist walk-in customers, outside sales teams, and other departments as needed.
- Work with dispatch to ensure on-time rental deliveries.
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly branch reports as assigned by management.
- Perform related duties as assigned by a supervisor or Branch Manager.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or college degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with heavy equipment or in the construction industry.
- Basic knowledge of equipment and the construction industry, including phases of construction and mechanical/technical aptitude.
- Desire to continually learn about industry advancements and changes.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with surrounding areas and ability to read and understand city maps.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (verbal, written, non-verbal, and listening).
- Strong analytical skills, including problem-solving and interpreting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and various web-based applications.
- Strong organizational skills, including continuous improvement, productivity, innovation, and goal achievement.
- Familiarity with technology and ability to use a wide variety of platforms.
- Ability to assist customers with orders and product inquiries.
- Availability to work overtime, on-call, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Ability to gain a solid understanding of offered products and their applications.
- Knowledgeable of the local delivery area.
- Other Position Requirements:
- Works under close supervision with independence for recurring assignments; supervision is available for unfamiliar situations.
- Responsibilities require modest creativity and latitude, operating under general instructions with established procedures.
- Duties are broad in scope, requiring adherence to policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws.
- Performs complex tasks such as pricing equipment, locating product specifications, writing orders, and completing contractual agreements for rentals.
- Errors in judgment or procedure (e.g., incomplete contracts) may impact revenues, expenses, legal compliance, customer relations, and company reputation.
