Sales Merchandiser

For more than three decades, the Virginia Lottery has worked to build a strong reputation, one synonymous with providing fun, entertaining experiences and doing so responsibly and with integrity. Proceeds from traditional Lottery games support K-12 public education in Virginia. Taxes generated by sports wagering and casino gaming, which are regulated by the Lottery, benefit other priorities of the Commonwealth.

About the role

The Virginia Lottery, an independent state agency, is currently seeking a part-time Sales Merchandiser to join its Sales Department in the areas of Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, Charles City, New Kent, Toano, Norge and Middle Peninsula.

Responsibilities

• Support sales by filling and maintaining Lottery vending machines
• Replace and maintain counter dispensers
• Slot new games during launch periods
• Assist in special projects and other various tasks as assigned
• Assist special distribution projects and occasional weekend events
• Work closely with the Area Manager and Sales Representatives to accomplish the sales and distribution goals of the sales area
• On occasion, may be required to work a 12 hour day, lift and move up to 50 lbs., and use common household tools

Requirements

• Must be able to work independently with low levels of supervision
• Possess strong interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, and time management skills
• Present a professional and engaging personality
• Good math skills
• Travel and weekend work required
• Must be willing to travel within a wide radius of the Winchester sales area

Qualifications

• Knowledge of route sales, consumer package goods industry, and experience working in the convenience store, mass merchandiser and/or grocery environment preferred
• Route experience preferred

Pay

$20 - $22/hour

Schedule

• Part-time, less than 30 hours per week (may vary based on business need)
• Weekend work is required
• A state vehicle is provided including gas
