Main Responsibilities
- Proactively identifying, targeting, and winning new converter customers and new business opportunities within assigned territories and market segments across the United States
- Building and managing a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities through disciplined prospecting, outreach, follow-up, and account penetration activities
- Developing strategic account plans for target converter customers, including growth objectives, call plans, trial plans, and competitive conversion strategies
- Driving conversion opportunities from initial contact through qualification, trial, negotiation, and close, in collaboration with technical, sustainability, supply chain, and marketing teams as needed
- Conducting regular in-person and virtual customer meetings to understand customer needs, position Metsä Board’s value proposition, and create momentum around new opportunities
- Providing clear forecasting on pipeline, new business development, account growth, and risks and opportunities to Sales Management and relevant internal stakeholders
- Coeordinating internal resources to support trials, commercial proposals, customer development plans, and the successful onboarding of new business
- Supporting commercial execution with customers, including pricing discussions, deal structure, service expectations, and growth commitments under the direction of the Sales Director
- Maintaining strong alignment with Sales Managers, Directors, and VP Sales to ensure focus on priority converter accounts, targeted segments, and strategic growth initiatives
What We Expect From You
- Proven success in a hunter-style sales role, with a strong track record of prospecting, developing pipeline, and winning new business
- Experience in selling to converter customers, packaging customers, or related paperboard and packaging markets is strongly preferred
- Strong commercial skills, including opportunity qualification, value-based selling, negotiation, and closing
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
- A bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent professional experience
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with Sales Management and cross-functional teams
- A self-starting approach, high energy, resilience, adaptability, and a results-driven mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and confidence in working with CRM tools
