About the role
The Grocery Sales Manager is responsible for direct selling of Retail Space Solutions (RSS) and Trade Fixtures (TF) brand products to a predefined list of grocery and mass retail customers. This experienced sales role requires outside sales experience and involves managing a sales territory with several target customers. While no specific region is required, the role demands travel to all assigned customers within the segment/region. The Sales Manager drives organic revenue growth, serves as the primary customer contact, and ensures customer needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Generate organic sales for target Grocery and Mass Merchandiser retailer customers within a defined region, achieving or exceeding annual revenue and contribution margin goals.
- Identify new sales opportunities within target accounts, arrange meetings, deliver persuasive sales messages, and leverage market tests into territory rollouts at target margins.
- Maintain excellent product knowledge of all RSS/TF products and sell directly to customers while leveraging external sales resources (e.g., brokers).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts to ensure accurate regional forecasting by leadership.
- Maintain up-to-date customer profiles and activity logs in the sales CRM tool, including post-call sales notes.
- Utilize company-provided reports to review sales-to-goal, account progress, and territory pipeline for monthly business discussions with leadership.
- Request resources for new products, custom opportunities, or market tests, including measurable metrics and tracking in the CRM.
- Develop a segment/regional growth strategy pipeline and execute strategic account plans for assigned customers.
- Coordinate sales efforts with Inside Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Marketing, and other internal departments.
- Provide management with updates on customer needs, competitive activities, and potential for new products/services.
- Conduct Voice of Customer (VOC) interviews to gather market intelligence, identify trends, and provide feedback to Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Leadership teams.
- Stay abreast of best practices, promotional trends, and continuously improve through feedback.
Requirements
- BS/BA undergraduate degree from an accredited university; MBA preferred.
- 3-5 years of related experience selling to retail grocery and mass merchandisers, with a demonstrated track record in B2B sales to medium-to-large customers.
- 3+ years of quota attainment in sales.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, CRM (MS Dynamics, Salesforce), and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (presentation, email, phone).
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize concurrent projects.
- Proactive attitude and ability to meet client needs under tight deadlines.

Work Environment
Work is primarily remote, with regular business hours (8 AM–5 PM) and at least 40 hours per week. Some variation in hours may occur due to special projects or deadlines. Regular travel is required.
