Sales and Management Intern

This position aims to fulfill Buckle's mission statement, "to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." Interns perform various sales, merchandising, and operational tasks under the supervision of store management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide exceptional service.
  • Answer questions about the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience.
  • Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge and education with Team.
  • Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Help Guests try on or fit merchandise.
  • Prepare merchandise for alterations.
  • Place Special Orders or call other stores to find desired merchandise.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Buckle’s customer service expectations in order to meet the needs of every Guest.
  • Maintain and build good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
  • Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty including fit appointments, Buckle credit card, and guest connect.
  • Complete Teammate Orientation, Beginning Leadership, and Recruiting, Interviewing, and Hiring sections of the Buckle Management Manual.
  • Develop an understanding of Buckle’s products, sales presentation, and merchandising process.
  • Manage a product category – set sales goals, educate teammates, and track results.
  • Lead and motivate the team by tracking the specific department or company tool through Performance Tracker.
  • Develop recruiting, merchandising, and leadership skills.
  • Participate monthly in conference calls.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for all required assignments within the Internship.
  • Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Internship Duties

  • Develop an understanding of Buckle’s products, sales presentation, and merchandising process.
  • Manage a product category – set sales goals, educate teammates, and track results.

  • Develop recruiting, merchandising, and leadership skills.

  • Take ownership and responsibility for all required assignments within the Internship.
