About the role
As a field-based property and casualty underwriter, you will evaluate, assess, and price risks while driving profitable growth for agency partners in Central or Southern Illinois. This role involves strategic planning, deep agency relationships, and leadership within your territory.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite commercial business by analyzing risks, pricing, negotiating, and making informed decisions.
- Sell and solicit business across all available business units to build strong, diverse agency relationships.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for territory growth and profitability, including new agency appointments.
- Build deep relationships with assigned agencies to create a diverse and profitable portfolio.
- Lead and collaborate with other field disciplines to ensure agency success through communication and support.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, competitors, and emerging risks to make informed decisions.
- Regularly travel and visit agencies within your territory.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of industry experience.
- Proven underwriting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in multiline commercial underwriting (3+ years preferred).
- Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)) are a plus.
- Professional selling experience is advantageous.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $108,000 - $182,400 annually, based on education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
