About the role

The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Pre-Sales Engineer within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or technology consulting environment. This individual has a proven track record of partnering with Account Executives to conduct technical discovery, scope infrastructure and security solutions, and guide customers through complex technology decisions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives to support both new logo acquisition and existing account growth through technical solution consulting.

  • Lead technical scoping sessions and develop solution architectures for Microsoft Azure (required), Microsoft 365, networking, and managed security services.

  • Present technical recommendations and solution demonstrations to executive and technical audiences.

  • Support account management activities by identifying technology refresh, optimization, and expansion opportunities within existing customer environments.

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to both prospective and existing customers by building strong professional relationships.

  • Review customer environments to identify areas for technology refreshes, optimization, expansion, or additional support.

  • Education customers on technology standards, operational risks, and alignment between business goals and technical strategy.

  • Support customer business reviews by combining operational and technical insights from internal delivery teams.

  • Drive adoption of RedHelm services through strategic technical guidance and upsell identification.

  • Maintain expertise across RedHelm services and third-party partner technologies to support customer recommendations.

  • Translate technical concepts and requirements into clear, business-focused recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, operations, and leadership teams to support customer success and solution delivery.

  • Maintain accuracy and manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, customer records, opportunity updates, and technical information within CRM platforms.

  • Will require occasional travel for business purposes.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and/or supporting IT infrastructure and/or IT security environments.

  • 2+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering or solutions engineering role within managed IT services, infrastructure, or cybersecurity.

  • 2+ years of experience supporting customer account management or customer-facing technical engagements.

  • Experience partnering with sales teams to support technical solution development and customer presentations.

  • Experience architecting and supporting technologies including but not limited to: Microsoft Azure Public Cloud (required), Microsoft 365, Managed IT Infrastructure Services, Managed IT Security Services, Public and Private Cloud Solutions, Network and Server Architecture, Endpoint Architecture.

  • Technical expertise in managed IT infrastructure and/or managed security services environments.

  • Strong solution architecture, discovery, requirements gathering, and proposal development capabilities.

  • Able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences.

  • Ability to establish credibility and rapidly build trusted customer relationships.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, operational, and sales teams.

  • Highly organized with disciplined CRM usage and opportunity management.

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality customer experience.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Relevant technical certifications in infrastructure, cloud, networking, or cybersecurity platforms preferred.

Additional Information

Compensation: Salary for this role starts at $90,000 with uncapped commission.

KPIs / Metrics: Solution proposal completion and win rates, customer satisfaction and relationship development, technical discovery and assessment completion, account expansion and upsell contribution, customer business reviews completed, accuracy and quality of technical documentation and proposals, participation in customer meetings, presentations, and solution demonstrations, CRM accuracy and opportunity management discipline, ongoing technical training and certification development, cross-functional collaboration and support effectiveness, Information Security & Data Privacy Responsibility.
