SALES ENGINEER
Pay: $80,000-$100,000+ per year, with commission, bonus pay, and supplemental pay opportunities.
About the role
Innovative IDM, one of the country's premier Industrial Automation and Motion Controls Distributors, is seeking a Sales Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a passion for sales, driving growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding existing accounts.
We serve a wide variety of customers, including food processors, machinery manufacturers, and companies involved in forming, fabricating, and extruding. Our solutions help businesses combat lost productivity and eroded margins caused by production bottlenecks, process inefficiencies, and downtime. Unlike others, we don’t just push products—we take the time to understand our customers' products and processes, combining that knowledge with our extensive application and product expertise to create effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Find, develop, and maintain relationships with customers
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive sales growth
- Provide technical expertise and support to customers
- Conduct weekly phone work to schedule face-to-face appointments
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers
- Participate in joint sales calls with vendor representatives
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with customers
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in sales or business development in a technical industry preferred
- Strong technical background in industrial automation systems and equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, timers, switches, temperature controllers, VFDs, and process controls
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with CRM and MS Office products
