About the role
The Large Format Sales District Leader (SDL) Designate will report directly to the Area Sales Manager and will learn our business model, processes, and how to influence cross-functionally while developing and leading a strategic agenda. This role includes a structured onboarding program to acclimate you to PepsiCo’s fast-paced environment, building foundational knowledge and increasing ownership and responsibility.
You will lead execution and manage customer relationships in large format accounts, overseeing a team of frontline employees who merchandise orders in a direct store delivery environment. This role is directly responsible for full-time Merchandisers servicing high-volume stores such as supermarkets and mass merchants. You will also provide guidance to Large Format Presell Representatives and Territory Sales Representatives through a dotted-line reporting relationship, ensuring cohesive performance across the broader team.
As the manager of full-time Merchandisers, you will have authority over hiring, training, promoting, and managing performance, including conducting interviews, scheduling, assessing performance against metrics, and providing regular feedback.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an executional leader in large format for Pods, providing sales and service support for the Territory Sales Leader.
- Coach and lead a team of full-time merchandisers on selling, display execution, and merchandising standards.
- Provide guidance and influential leadership to Large Format Presell Representatives on key selling initiatives.
- Own large format customer relationships, flagging potential risks or concerns.
- Support overall business development, including crafting pitch strategies and materials.
- Assign full-time merchandisers to consistent high-volume accounts and adjust store assignments as needed for proper coverage.
- Conduct ‘work-withs/route rides’ to develop merchandising and customer service skills.
- Apply knowledge of merchandising principles to drive productivity.
- Brief frontline employees on scheduling and productivity goals.
- Anticipate and address potential customer issues through contingency planning.
- Train and onboard newly hired merchandisers using established processes and tools.
- Track and monitor key performance metrics (KPIs), including volume and waste targets.
- Oversee Pod compliance, conducting audits of merchandiser and LF PSR in-store huddles and daily digests.
- Supervise daily operations, delegate tasks, and monitor progress.
- Collaborate with the Territory Sales Leader and Sales Representatives to execute sales strategy.
- Solicit feedback from Sales Representatives as part of the performance review process.
- Set productivity and service targets, measuring performance to drive accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
- Willingness to relocate within WA or Oregon markets after onboarding (preferred).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 60 lbs. periodically.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license; safe driving record strongly preferred.
- This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.
Preferred Experience
- 1+ years in sales.
- 1+ years in consumer packaged goods within a direct store delivery environment.
- Customer relationship management experience.
- Ability to relocate.
Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $73,600 - $123,150. Actual starting salary will consider location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education. A performance-based bonus targets 15% of annual salary, paid quarterly.
