About the role
We are seeking a high-energy Sales Development Representative (SDR) to be the engine of our sales pipeline. This role is crucial for supporting our Account Managers by executing focused, high-volume prospecting to acquire new customer opportunities. Your primary mission is to identify, qualify, and transition high-potential leads, ensuring our Account Managers are focused on closing profitable deals. This is a role for a motivated self-starter who thrives on the thrill of the chase and possesses a strong drive to exceed targets.
Responsibilities
- Execute the Hunt: Be the spearhead of new business acquisition by conducting proactive, high-volume outbound prospecting across your assigned territory (via calls, emails, and social channels) to identify potential new customers for thermoplastic resins.
- Qualify with Precision: Use a rigorous qualification process to assess a prospect's needs, budget, authority, timeline, and fit with Nexeo's value proposition and product offerings (S.P.E.D. or similar methodology). Your goal is to deliver sales-ready leads directly into the Account Manager's pipeline.
- Action-Oriented Outreach: Develop and execute creative, personalized, and multi-threaded outreach campaigns that cut through the noise, securing initial discovery meetings for the Account Management team.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work in lockstep with the Account Managers to align on territory strategy, ideal customer profiles, and the seamless handoff of qualified opportunities, ensuring a unified approach to profitable growth.
- CRM Discipline: Maintain accurate record-keeping within our CRM (Salesforce/SAP), meticulously documenting all prospecting activity, lead qualification details, and next steps to provide clear visibility and accurate forecasting.
- Market Acumen: Rapidly develop a working understanding of Nexeo's diverse product portfolio, supply chain advantages, and value-added services to effectively articulate our full offering to prospects.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent practical experience in a sales, business development, or high-volume call center role. Experience in plastics, chemicals, or industrial distribution is a plus.
- The Hunter Mentality (Must-Have): Demonstrated strong drive and an action orientation with a proven history of hitting and exceeding activity-based metrics (e.g., calls per day, meetings booked). You see 'No' as a challenge, not a dead end.
- Communication & Presence: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and confidently engage decision-makers over the phone and email.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, SAP, or similar) and prospecting tools (e.g., SalesLoft, Outreach) to manage a high volume of leads efficiently and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Resilience and Coachability: An intrinsic motivation to succeed, a positive attitude, and the ability to rapidly adapt feedback and iterate on outreach strategies.
