About the role
This program prepares you for a future role as an Outside Sales Representative at United Rentals, one of the world’s largest equipment rental providers.
Responsibilities
- Shadow both sales and operational roles at a local branch to gain an inside-out understanding of the full equipment-rental lifecycle.
- Join a digital onboarding class to sharpen your sales technique and build a strong internal support network.
- Engage in outbound sales campaigns to expose yourself to different construction verticals, varying customer spend levels, and equipment types.
- Master key United Rentals sales tools, including CRM, inventory management platforms, customer portal, and mobile applications.
- Lead high-level sales conversations, including price negotiations, multi-piece rental requests, government and educational collective agreements, and the sale of used equipment.
- Develop sales strategies and create realistic timelines for achieving your goals.
- Participate in local team initiatives such as safety huddles, customer appreciation events, and 1UR internal team-building workshops.
- Receive daily feedback from corporate and local leadership meetings, call coaching sessions, and ride-alongs to local jobsites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proficient computer and mobile phone/tablet skills.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
