About the role
Johnson Brothers Liquor Company, a leading family-owned distributor of wine, spirits, and beer since 1953, is seeking a Sales Consultant to service restaurants, bars, night clubs, and other accounts in an established sales territory. This role focuses on selling, servicing, merchandising, and administration while ensuring up-to-date accounts receivable.
Responsibilities
- Strategize and preplan to achieve sales objectives by understanding company pricing, product programming, and maintaining accurate historical account purchase information.
- Coordinate and manage special events, programs, and initiatives set forth by suppliers.
- Proactively drive business objectives and goals.
- Track results weekly, monthly, or quarterly, including distribution, menus, drink features, promotions, visibility, and staff training.
- Assist with point-of-sale tools to drive distribution, menu placement, and features for supplier brands.
- Track national account programs to ensure compliance.
- Call on accounts and cover daily routes efficiently.
- Analyze the entire account base to identify opportunities.
- Work with management on inventory levels, monitoring current stock and demand fluctuations.
- Achieve distribution, volume, and activity goals set by management for supplier brands.
- Ensure maximum brand visibility within accounts using effective point-of-sale materials.
- Collect and deliver payments from accounts where legally permissible.
- Educate account staff on priority brands through training seminars.
- Support account openings by developing opening orders in collaboration with the District Manager.
- Manage customer account receivables, including processing credits, returns, and communicating on aged receivables.
- Service accounts by delivering products in extenuating circumstances, handling customer issues, and escalating to management as needed.
- Maintain professional relationships with all suppliers.
- Stay informed of company and supplier activities by attending and participating in sales meetings.
- Complete all necessary training programs and maintain professional knowledge through workshops and industry publications.
- Maintain customer confidence by keeping information confidential.
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain a clean working environment.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Desire to sell and ability to create professional presentations.
- Prior sales experience in the wine and spirits industry or in restaurants and hotels preferred.
- Availability to work outside standard 8-5 hours, including early evenings and occasional weekend events.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, goal-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively.
- Team player attitude and actions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of product.
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with a wide range of buyer types.
- Professional written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
- Reliable car, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record.
- Four-year college degree highly preferred.
