About the role

Havertys is seeking driven individuals to join our team as Retail Furniture Sales Consultants. In this role, you will assist customers in selecting furniture by understanding their needs and helping them create a warm and inviting home. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, excels individually, and contributes to overall store success and customer satisfaction while consistently meeting sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to customers from initial contact through delivery and beyond.
• Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to connect with a diverse group of customers.
• Build relationships with customers independently and in collaboration with our Interior Design Consultant through our complementary Design program.
• Reinforce customer selections and assist in completing the look of their rooms.
• Provide product, service, and finance expertise based on customer needs.
• Utilize company-provided tablets and proprietary technology for customer communication.
• Enter client information into Havertys’ customer relationship management system and provide professional follow-up.
• Maintain knowledge of a broad range of furniture styles and products.

Requirements

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple customer communications simultaneously.
• Positive, engaging personality with a creative flair and energetic attitude.
• Proficient in resolving customer objections and ensuring satisfaction.
• Familiarity with a broad range of furniture styles and products (preferred but not required).
• Computer proficiency, including email experience; knowledge of MS Office software preferred; tablet/iPad operation abilities strongly preferred.
• Relevant experience preferred but not required.
• High School diploma/GED or equivalent required; college education preferred.
• 1-3 years of retail experience, preferably in a commissioned sales position.
• Interior Design experience is highly desired.

• Required to work retail hours, including nights and weekends (store hours: 10 am – 7 pm Monday – Saturday, 12 pm – 6 pm Sunday).

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move more than 20 pounds occasionally.
• Varying color recognition is required.

Pay

Earnings range from $55,000 to $100,000+ per year, with an uncapped commission structure and a guaranteed income feature. In 2025, Havertys Sales Consultants earned $87,000 on average nationally.
