Sales Consultant

Job Summary

Havertys is actively seeking individuals to join our retail furniture team. As a Retail Furniture Sales Consultant, you will assist customers in selecting furniture, contributing to overall store success, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Compensation

The compensation for this role ranges between $55,000 to $100,000+ per year. In 2025, Havertys Sales Consultants earned an average of $87,000 nationally.

Schedule

Retail hours including nights and weekends. Stores are open from 10 am – 7 pm Monday – Saturday and 12 pm – 6 pm Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting furniture by understanding their needs and helping them create a warm and inviting home.
• Contribute to overall store success and customer satisfaction, consistently meeting established sales goals.
• Build relationships with customers both independently and in collaboration with our Interior Design Consultant through our complementary Design program.
• Reinforce customer selections and assist in completing the look of their rooms.
• Provide product, service, and finance expertise based on customers' needs.
• Utilize company-provided tablets and proprietary technology for customer communication.
• Engage with clients by entering client information using Havertys customer relationship management system and providing professional follow-up.
• Maintain knowledge of a broad range of furniture styles and products.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple customer communications simultaneously.
• Have a positive and engaging personality.
• Show creative flair and an energetic attitude.
• Be proficient in resolving customer objections and ensuring satisfaction.
• Have familiarity with a broad range of furniture styles and products (preferred but not required).
• Be computer proficient including email experience, and have knowledge and use of MS Office software (knowledge and use of Tablet/iPad operation abilities strongly preferred).
• Have relevant experience (preferred but not required).
• Have college education (preferred), High School / GED or equivalent (required); or 1-3 years of retail experience preferably in a commissioned sales position.
• Have Interior Design experience (highly desired).

Beautifully appointed showrooms with a 140-year company heritage, fast-paced environment, customer-focused, business professional dress code. Required to work retail hours including nights and weekends as our stores are open 10 am – 7 pm Monday – Saturday and 12 pm – 6 pm Sunday. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 20 pounds occasionally. Varying color recognition is required in this position.
