About the role

Full-time position (30-40 hours/week) located in Clearwater, FL. Open to all sources. Salary: $16.80/hour.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with merchandise selection.
• Respond promptly to customer concerns with a sense of urgency.
• Provide outstanding customer service, including helping patrons select goods or substitute items.
• Oversee overall operations of the sales department.
• Order merchandise, receive, price, and monitor stock levels.
• Assist store management with price changes, markdowns, promotional sets, and signage.
• Communicate directly with HQ staff to resolve special order requests or merchandise issues.
• Train employees on cash register and front-end duties; provide input on employee evaluations.
• Operate a cash register, accept cash, personal checks, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
• Prepare, verify, and issue change funds as required.
• Collect and reconcile cash receipts, register tapes, checks, credit card receipts, and supporting documentation.
• Compare register tapes with Daily Activity Report and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and maintain cash overage and shortage records for each sales cashier daily.
• Ensure control and security of change funds, safe, and cash registers.
• Serve as key carrier, opening and closing the store as required.
• Direct or supervise other employees and manage overall store operations in the absence of management.
• Follow all policies regarding Loss Prevention; proactively address shrink and use the Alert Line.
• Adhere to all established safety standards and emergency preparedness requirements.
• Routinely lift 20 pounds or more (occasionally up to 25 pounds) and stand for long periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales.
• Ability to routinely lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds; ability to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

• Experience operating a cash register and working knowledge of sales inventory.
• Previous retail supervisory experience.
• Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months of experience.
