About the role

The Sales Associate serves as the primary point of contact for customers, assisting them in locating and purchasing merchandise, operating the cash register, stocking and rotating merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, and performing additional tasks assigned by the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases, collect payments, make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers as needed.
• Follow company merchandise processes: unpack, stock, restock, rotate merchandise, and build displays.
• Clean the store, including taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms and receiving areas, and setting up sidewalk displays.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager to support store profitability and asset protection.

Requirements

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan‑ograms and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling while operating checkout stations, stocking merchandise, and unloading trucks.
• Regular handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, containers, two‑wheel dollies, six‑wheel carts, and roll‑tainers.
• Lifting up to 40 lb regularly; occasional lifting up to 55 lb.
• Occasional climbing using a step ladder to heights of six feet.
• Fast‑paced environment with moderate noise level.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
