About the role
The Travel Center Sales Associate is responsible for serving customers in a professional, quick and courteous manner, while complying with all food handling guidelines. The position involves welcoming customers with a friendly attitude, providing personalized recommendations, engaging in suggestive selling, and managing the POS system.
Responsibilities
- Greets all customers at the register and sales floor in a welcoming and friendly manner
- Engages in suggestive selling by recommending products and promotions that meet customer needs and enhance their shopping experience
- Understands all functions of the POS system and counts back changes properly
- Is proficient in opening and closing a shift, including completing all paperwork
- Properly transacts credit cards using credit card equipment
- Processes all sales quickly and accurately
- Ensures all items are properly stocked and priced correctly
- Reads and follows directions
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment; performs basic maintenance
- Maintains store appearance keeping it neat and clean, both inside and outside
- Recognizes problems and reports them to management
- Projects a positive attitude
- Responsible for all aspects of food operations and handling/storage of product
- Complies with all food handling guidelines to meet or exceed state/federal regulations
- Ensures a clean and healthy food service environment for our customers and associates by following proper cooking procedures and temperature holding temps
- Ensures that all food products are stored properly, rotated and code dated with expiration dates and that all food products, whether cooked or stored, are held at proper temperatures
- Responsible for temperature testing food to ensure proper food safety and quality control
- Provides friendly and competent customer service
- Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled with regular and consistent attendance
Qualifications
- Retail or guest service experience preferred
- Must be 19 years of age or older in the State of Nebraska
- Able to work the POS system efficiently
- Able to read, write and perform math skills
- Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude
- Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Must be well groomed and properly attired
- Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and any shift needed
- Must have reliable transportation and phone
- Must be able to communicate in English
