Sales Agent

About the Role

This position focuses on networking, developing lead sources, and conducting sales activities primarily offsite to sell Club memberships and insurance products. The Sales Agent provides information and guidance on member services and new insurance products through customized needs analysis, ensuring members make informed product selections. The role involves maintaining and reviewing existing policies, conducting policy reviews, and fostering relationships to drive retention and referral business. Thorough, accurate, and timely documentation, along with adherence to underwriting rules, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Sell insurance products and memberships while developing a successful sales strategy to achieve production targets.
• Participate in community and business activities to prospect for potential membership and insurance sales opportunities and identify leads consistently.
• Utilize methods such as direct mail, referral systems, cross-selling, networking, and prospect purchases to obtain sales leads for AAA products.
• Maintain a high level of expertise regarding Club products and services, and communicate effectively with members and prospective insureds.
• Enhance closing skills and manage time effectively to achieve sales goals.
• Conduct needs analysis to properly quote rates, qualify applicants, inspect vehicles or property, and complete documentation according to underwriting criteria.
• Ensure proper ratings are applied to new policies based on insureds' statements and underwriting guidelines.
• Provide service to Club members and insureds via in-person interactions, telephone, email, fax, or correspondence.
• Process insurance and membership changes, and compile accurate documentation for all transactions.
• Conduct policy reviews to identify cross-sell opportunities and diversify member product usage.
• Provide sales leads to travel and other departments as appropriate.
• Collect membership and insurance payments while maintaining security in handling Club monies and receipts.
• Attend meetings, training workshops, and seminars to ensure professional development and product knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required, adhering to scheduled activities as directed by management.
• Maintain current knowledge of membership services, insurance underwriting, coverage provisions, billing statements, payment options, cancellations, and processing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of insurance sales/service experience preferred.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated competitive and persistent nature.
• Advanced organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Valid Driver’s License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record, and minimum liability insurance (issued by state).
• Property and Casualty Insurance License, valid in selling state (issued by state).

Occasional travel (5%) to off-site business meetings or conferences may be required.
