Primary Purpose
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for driving year‑over‑year volume and DGP growth for Bulk Chemical & Services (BCS) products. This role drives the Bulk Chemical Distribution (BCD) sales strategy across targeted products and markets to profitably grow an assigned territory or customer portfolio. A key focus will be developing new customers and expanding business with existing accounts, particularly in support of a new Chlor Alkali product stream.
What You’ll Do
- Actively manage a territory and interact with key internal and external business associates including Sales Director, Product Management, other Verticals and the Shared Service (Customer Service/Ops) team to efficiently and effectively support and fulfill customer needs.
- Sell deep into accounts by developing multiple contacts at various levels of management and functional groups.
- Sell the Univar Value Proposition.
- Ensure prospects and customers are properly qualified, including safety and environmental performance, and financial worthiness.
- Maintain adequate pipeline to ensure churn (new business vs. lost business) outperforms territory goals.
- Use discretion with company funds for entertainment and travel as outlined in the company travel and expense policy.
- Identify, aggregate and report on all BCD product opportunities.
- Own and complete annual volume and DGP goals.
- Focus on marketing volume of regional Chlor Alkali plants.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical distribution business preferred.
- Minimum 10 years sales and marketing experience, preferably in chlor-alkali and/or sulfur markets.
- Demonstrated success driving sales growth.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Expert relationship builder both externally and internally.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Strong communication skills; both verbal and written.
