SAIL Case Manager Supervisor (Remote)
About the Role
The Navy’s Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) program supports Sailors’ recovery following a suicide-related incident to optimize successful reintegration and ensure mission readiness. Through voluntary caring client contacts with SAIL Case Managers, the program monitors healing progress using evidence-based tools, increases compliance with treatment, and empowers Sailors to strengthen coping skills and resilience. The SAIL Supervisor provides management support and oversight to SAIL Case Managers as part of the CNIC Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) Global Staffing Contract. This position is virtual, but candidates must be physically located within a commutable distance of a military installation for the purpose of CAC card issuance.
Responsibilities
- Government Interface: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with government points of contact. Communicate concerns or questions regarding contract performance to the SAIL Operations Manager. Seek consultation on policy exceptions and personnel issues. Provide input for monthly and quarterly reports.
- Contract Staffing: Follow corporate recruiting and contract-specific processes to advertise, recruit, and hire contract staff. Ensure new employees complete initial orientation and job-related training. Collect required employee paperwork.
- Staff Support: Serve as the primary corporate management resource for staff. Ensure staff have necessary resources to fulfill job responsibilities. Provide regular supervision and performance feedback via phone or web conferencing. Conduct SAIL record reviews and consult with Case Managers. Ensure compliance with corporate policies on timekeeping, paid time off, and reporting. Approve timesheets and manage leave schedules. Initiate staff appreciation as appropriate.
- Contract Monitoring: Ensure contract requirements are met and compliance maintained. Review input for monthly/quarterly reports. Advise senior management of contractual issues that may result in Contracting Office action or adverse personnel actions. Collaborate on solutions to contract-related challenges. Monitor program activities and perform periodic audits.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain required Quality Control plan requirements. Participate in CNIC HQ quarterly quality assurance procedures to ensure safe and high-quality SAIL services.
- Staff Recruitment: Initiate staff recruiting in accordance with corporate and contract-specific hiring procedures, including reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, and submitting approval paperwork.
- Contract Operations: Understand CNIC SAIL Program PWS requirements, SAIL Program Guide, SAIL FFSMIS User Guide, and Zeiders’ compliance policies. Participate in Zeiders management meetings.
- Program and Personnel Management: Serve as direct supervisor for SAIL Case Managers, providing oversight, performance monitoring, leadership development, and consultation. Act as hiring manager for SAIL Case Manager and Social Service Associate positions. Provide SAIL training on documentation, policies, and procedures. Serve as a SAIL Case Manager during staff absences or vacancies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in counseling (CACREP-accredited), social work (CSWE-accredited), marriage and family therapy (COAMFTE-accredited), or a doctoral degree in clinical/counseling psychology with a one-year APA-accredited clinical internship.
- Current, valid, and unrestricted clinical license or certification (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LCP, LPC, LCPC, LMHC) authorizing independent clinical practice in professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, or clinical/counseling psychology.
- Maintain current clinical credentials and privileges throughout the FFSP assignment.
- Meet or exceed Tier III clinical practitioner requirements.
- Adhere to professional and ethical conduct standards prescribed by discipline or licensing board.
- Demonstrate current clinical competence through direct service experience during the 2 years preceding hire.
- Minimum of two years of full-time, post-licensed clinical experience.
- 1+ years of personnel management/staff supervision of licensed mental health providers.
- 2+ years providing case management to clinical clients.
- 1+ year experience providing clinical services on a telehealth platform.
- Minimum of 6 months experience managing crises with suicidal clients and implementing safety plans.
- Minimum of 6 months experience assessing suicidality risk.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and clinical documentation requirements.
- Experience working in a virtual environment and competency in telehealth service delivery.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments and with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Physically located within a reasonable commuting distance of a military installation.
- Flexibility to work hours outside core business hours as needed.
- U.S. Citizenship and reliable transportation to travel to assigned locations and nearby facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Local residency in the assigned area of responsibility.
- FFSC and SAIL Case Management experience.
- Knowledge of military life stresses and experience providing short-term counseling for related issues.
- Knowledge of military and community referral resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Command Leadership (e.g., Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Command Master Chief).
