About the role
The Safety Support Technician reports to the Capstone Logistics Safety Supervisor. This role primarily focuses on safety and customer service, including inspecting, testing, and evaluating workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits to evaluate workplace safety and health programs.
- Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
- Lead safety meetings and trainings to ensure facility safety compliance.
- Participate in post-accident investigations and recommend preventive measures.
- Assist operation management with accident documentation.
- Provide driver retraining and recertification when necessary.
- Serve as the first responder for the shift.
- Inform the leadership team of all plant safety and health issues.
- Ensure attendance at the assigned work facility and perform tasks safely.
- Direct employee activity to meet area housekeeping requirements.
- Abide by all OSHA rules and Capstone Logistics safety practices.
- Meet established procedures and productivity, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing with all departments.
- Share labor and cross-train as required for business needs.
- Ensure associates have appropriate tools to perform their duties.
- Audit operations to ensure processes follow standard work sheets.
- Collect data and report on KPIs, quality reports, audits, financial reporting, and customer-required reports.
- Track all material handling equipment (MHE) material and equipment.
- Create, enter data, and manage Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Ability to understand all safety requirements and regulations (OSHA).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to perform duties outside normal expertise to meet warehouse goals (e.g., facility management, maintenance, sanitation).
- Ability to respond to situations promptly and professionally.
- Energetic, highly motivated, and success-driven.
- Proven professionalism and sound judgment in managing sensitive matters.
- Excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
- Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Ability to work in multiple systems and input/retrieve data.
- Fluency in English.
- High-energy individual with a strong work ethic; the work is fast-paced and physical.
- Sit-down/Stand-up forklift certification or experience.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25-75 lbs; materials handled vary.
- Prior warehouse and/or equipment experience preferred (willing to train the right candidate).
- All candidates must be over 18 and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Work Environment
- 10% of work time in a climate-controlled office setting.
- 90% of work time in non-climate-controlled warehouse or other locations (hot and cold seasonally).
