Safety Trainer (Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnatti and surrounding regions)

About the role

We are searching for a dynamic individual with extensive experience in trench solutions and equipment safety training to join our team, working with clients and their employees. As a Regional Safety Trainer, you will lead training sessions with energy, intelligence, honesty, and charisma, engaging and interacting with people of any level or industry. This externally focused position requires extensive travel to Herc Rentals locations and client sites, reporting primarily to the Safety Training Supervisor and secondarily to the Safety Training Manager.

Responsibilities

• Complete sales activities such as cold calls, jobsite visits, and meetings with customers to identify training needs.
• Quote, schedule, and coordinate all training sessions, including travel arrangements.
• Prepare and set up training materials and classrooms prior to course delivery.
• Coordinate with customers or branch personnel to ensure equipment availability for training evaluations.
• Conduct training classes for customers, including OSHA 1926 Subpart P and other relevant courses.
• Stay up to date on industry regulations and ensure compliance in training content.
• Complete timely invoicing, document storage, training content updates, and professional development.
• Conduct regular self-audits of training and documentation.
• Maintain financial reports and present them at regular intervals.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to support customer needs.
• Meet with customers to communicate programs and objectives.
• Attend courses, conferences, and seminars as necessary.
• Interpret government and agency regulations (OSHA, ANSI, CSA).
• Develop and improve training programs as directed by leadership.
• Carry out other duties as requested by the Safety Training Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

• Up to 80% travel required.
• Strong project and time management skills to achieve objectives.
• Experience delivering training to customers and employees.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Ability to maintain order in an environment of changing priorities.
• Safety awareness: understands, follows, and motivates others to follow safety rules and regulations.
• Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including outside regular business hours to accommodate client needs.

Skills

• Bi/Multi-Lingual preferred.
• Excellent presenting and public speaking abilities.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex written documents.
• Team player with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage shifting priorities under time constraints.
• Mastery of sales skills, including selling solutions over price.
• Effective questioning and feedback to assess customer training needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and settings.
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies and standards (OSHA, ANSI, CSA).
• Trench solutions expertise, including state-run Subpart P programs based on territory location.
• Field/working knowledge of excavation and trench solutions.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on teaching adult learners.
• Excellent computer and technology skills, primarily with Microsoft Suite software.

Pay

$55,000 - $70,000 base salary + sales commission + fleet truck.
