About the role
We are looking for a Safety Trainer to join our Safety team on our project(s) in Columbus, Ohio. This is a full-time, in person position.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safety orientations, OSHA-10/30, toolbox talks, and targeted training
- Facilitate sessions aligned with onboarding, project needs, and schedules
- Ensure training aligns with Holder standards, Energy-Based Safety, and SIF prevention
- Lead safety kickoffs, onboarding, and special training events with project teams
- Apply Energy-Based Safety principles, including energy identification and exposure control
- Integrate SIF prevention concepts like high-hazard recognition, CAZs, and controls
- Reinforce critical behaviors through field observation and coaching
- Partner with Safety and Superintendent teams to identify training gaps and risks
- Maintain strong field presence to reinforce safe behaviors and identify trends
- Support post-incident and near-miss training as needed
- Track and report training completion in HammerTech/LMS
- Stay current on OSHA standards and ensure compliant documentation
Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction safety field experience
- OSHA 500 and authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer required
- Knowledge of Energy-Based Safety and SIF prevention
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
- Ability to lead large groups and engage small crews
- Connects well with diverse craft workers across trades and backgrounds
- Committed to full-time, on-site project presence
Preferred
- CSP, CHST, CIT, or similar certification preferred
- Experience training adult learners in construction preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Familiarity with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) preferred
- Experience with HammerTech or similar platforms preferred
Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site assignment at a designated large-scale construction project
- Physical demands are consistent with an active commercial construction environment, including standing, walking, climbing, and working outdoors
- Position may transition to a new project assignment upon project completion
- Occasional overnight travel between project locations may be required
