Safety Technician

About the role

This position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assists with safety training for faculty, staff and students.
• Affirms facilities, work areas and equipment to include but not limited to verifying campus fume hood functionalities and testing safety showers and eye washes on campus.
• Congratulates and verifies biosafety cabinet certifications.
• Populates departmental database and generates reports as needed.
• May provide support services to handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, as needed.
• Performs respiratory fit-testing.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
• MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.
• Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
