Responsibilities
- Provide critical support on projects and daily work procedures focused on Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
- Anticipate and evaluate hazardous conditions while implementing safety programs to prevent employee injuries and illnesses.
- Monitor safety compliance, facilitate training sessions, and conduct job hazard analyses at various job sites.
- Support customer safety initiatives and maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey safety protocols and collaborate with team members and customers.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to foster a safety-focused culture.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess hazards and implement effective measures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with OSHA and DOT regulations.
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in safety or industrial health preferred.
- Experience in the maritime or shipyard industry (preferred).
- Forklift operation experience (a plus).
- Physical ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and inclement weather.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles.
- Ability to work the 2nd shift and overtime as required.
- Ability to perform various physical tasks including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, and working overhead.
- Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, such as manholes, and maintaining awkward positions for extended periods.
- Capable of performing indoor and outdoor work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Must be able to work in areas that may not be environmentally controlled.
- Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, particularly when working at a desk or on a computer.
- Must have listening and hearing ability as well as visual acuity to safely navigate shipyard environment.
- This position must be able to drive company vehicles and maintain a current and valid driver's license.
- Ability to speak effectively in front of large groups.
- Ability to lead by example and hold employees accountable when not following company safety requirements.
- May be required to conduct minor maintenance tasks in shipyard facilities, using various hand and power tools.
