Responsibilities

  • Provide critical support on projects and daily work procedures focused on Safety, Health, and Environmental standards.
  • Anticipate and evaluate hazardous conditions while implementing safety programs to prevent employee injuries and illnesses.
  • Monitor safety compliance, facilitate training sessions, and conduct job hazard analyses at various job sites.
  • Support customer safety initiatives and maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey safety protocols and collaborate with team members and customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to foster a safety-focused culture.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess hazards and implement effective measures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in safety or industrial health preferred.
  • Experience in the maritime or shipyard industry (preferred).
  • Forklift operation experience (a plus).
  • Physical ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and inclement weather.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to work the 2nd shift and overtime as required.
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, and working overhead.
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, such as manholes, and maintaining awkward positions for extended periods.
  • Capable of performing indoor and outdoor work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Must be able to work in areas that may not be environmentally controlled.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, particularly when working at a desk or on a computer.
  • Must have listening and hearing ability as well as visual acuity to safely navigate shipyard environment.
  • This position must be able to drive company vehicles and maintain a current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of large groups.
  • Ability to lead by example and hold employees accountable when not following company safety requirements.
  • May be required to conduct minor maintenance tasks in shipyard facilities, using various hand and power tools.
