Responsibilities

• Communicates job requirements and responsibilities to drivers
• Takes responsibility for day-to-day scheduling, counseling, and evaluation reports to local management
• Conducts on-the-scene accident investigation; assists drivers in preparing accident reports, OSHA reports, and safety violations documents
• Designs and delivers driver training and safety courses; trains new drivers and retrains those involved in accidents
• Observes drivers on the road, corrects safety problems on the scene, and documents violations
• Liaises between drivers and both clients and organization in customer service issues
• Evaluates and monitors driver safety and performance, as well as compliance in legal, employment, and labor policy matters
• Responsible for DOT/FTA compliance regarding drug testing and recordkeeping
• Assists in dispatching, driving, interviewing, and miscellaneous clerical tasks as needed
• Meets all driver qualifications at location
• Obtains a CDL required to operate vehicles at location, maintains that license, and drives route periodically
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Supervisory experience with hourly employees; 2–3 years of transit supervisory experience preferred
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time
• Excellent verbal, written, and relational communication skills; fluent in English
• Human resources and training experience
• Work extended hours regularly, including weekends and nights
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable
• Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
• DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason

Physical Requirements

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—85% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances on possible sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
• Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
