Safety Supervisor

About the Role

The Safety Fleet Supervisor is a front-line manager responsible for providing training direction and safety coaching to a fleet of long-haul drivers with the goal of reducing overall risk. Work is accomplished in tandem with Fleet Managers and other leadership on the Operations floor, collaboratively focusing on safety-related items and compliance matters regarding specific drivers.

Responsibilities

• Directly influence the safety behavior, driving performance, and knowledge base of your fleet
• Review contributing factors to accidents and violations to determine focus areas for remediation, prevention, and risk management
• Address trending problem areas with timely coaching and intervention
• Respond to questions regarding policies, procedures, best practices, FMCSR/CSA interpretations, etc.
• Provide weather updates to drivers and office associates
• Set up drug and alcohol screening as necessary
• Prepare regular and ad-hoc reporting

Requirements

• In-depth working knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations
• Highly organized and communicative—must be able to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
• Ability to perform in an environment with ambiguous situations, rapidly changing priorities, and competing deadlines
• Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations
• High degree of initiative and independent execution; thrive as a team player but also driven by autonomy

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Work Experience

2+ years of experience working in transportation, motor carrier experience, and/or experience with DOT.

Schedule

Monday–Friday (Weekend Rotation)
