Safety Supervisor
Responsibilities
- Responsible for compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations including employee training, delivery, and documentation.
- Maintain records in accordance with company/location policy.
- Support all accident and incident investigations for facilities in area of responsibility.
- Assist Health and Safety with reports to Workers’ Compensation and monitor Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Affirm reports to corporate Safety and Terminal Managers to demonstrate proper employee training.
- Train employees on relevant procedures, practices, and regulations.
- Support site contractor audit process.
- Manage Motive in every truck and support consistent coaching.
- Manage DQ file compliance through NECS for each terminal.
- Manage Omnitracs for DOT compliance for each terminal.
- Ensure all drivers receive Smith Systems training.
- Ensure DOT Accident Register.
Safety Program
- Participate and be a leader in Terminal and Regional Safety projects and supporting efforts.
- Perform routine inspections of site and equipment.
- Cook safety incentive programs and audit for consistency.
- Develop a system to periodically review and audit health and safety programs.
- Work with Regional H&S Managers to coordinate site trainings.
- Perform and assist in the development of Job Safety Analysis and work with site managers to develop safe and compliant work procedures.
Compliance Programs And Best Practices
- Provide front end input for safety and health compliance on all capital projects, equipment or process changes.
- Ensure compliance and maintenance of company/site Industrial Hygiene program.
- Create best practices for safety protocol implementation and follow up.

- Knowledgeable of state and federal laws, regulations and agencies (OSHA, DOT), the regulatory process, and the procedures for obtaining information is preferred.
- Ability to influence change with key personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.
- Strong interaction skills with regulatory inspectors including accompaniment on inspections and follow-up activities as required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs and correcting safety issues.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.
- Consistently provide professional, friendly assistance to hourly employees, executives, customers, consultants, and fellow co-workers at all times.
- Strong organizational skills required for thorough follow through of multiple projects involving an extensive network of departments and people.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software.
- Must be able to travel 40% of time. Will support South Texas Terminals and Fleets - Hill Country, RGV, Austin, Corpus and Houston.
- Must be capable of working overtime, weekends or holidays, if needed.
Physical Demands
- Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
- Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Up to 40% travel will be required driving between Terminals and occasional audit team travel.
Required Education
BS degree in Industrial safety, Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, Natural Science, or other related technical degree, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education
Master’s Degree in relevant or related field.
CSMP certification.
Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years professional management experience in industrial environmental and/or safety.
Preferred Experience
Five (5) years or more experience with MSHA/OSHA regulated facilities.
Experience working in a lime, cement, mining or other related industry.

Qualifications
Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 200 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
Will be working in an office environment, mining, and mineral processing environment.
