Safety Supervisor

About the role

The Safety Supervisor will oversee safety initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. They will support the development and implementation of safety policies and practices, conduct facility assessments, and assist in achieving annual safety goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal and state OSHA requirements and applicable consensus standards.
  • Provide direct support in developing and implementing facility policies and practices as part of ISO 45001 certification.
  • Support the creation and delivery of safety-related training.
  • Implement compliance and safety management system programs.
  • Conduct facility assessments to identify and mitigate hazards and prevent accidents.
  • Aid in the creation and support of annual plant safety goals.
  • Collaborate with the management team and employees to foster a culture of safety.
  • Oversee safety committees and the company’s behavioral assessment process.
  • Assist with workers' compensation management and the return-to-work program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
  • 2 to 4 years of occupational safety and health experience in industrial operations.
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).
  • Experience with Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience.
  • Ability to coach and train employees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize projects.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Proactive, highly organized, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders and audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel, Word).
  • Skills in managing complexity, process improvement, project management, systematic thinking/action, adaptability/flexibility, building strong work relationships, continuous learning, dependability/reliability/responsibility, focus on results, initiative, teamwork.
