We are seeking an experienced Safety Superintendent to lead site safety across construction projects with a particular emphasis on electrical safety and regulatory compliance. The Safety Superintendent will partner with project teams and Safety Managers to develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, perform risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety on sites including commercial, retail, hospitality, multifamily, and mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce site safety plans and procedures tailored to each project scope (ground-up, tenant improvements, renovation, new construction, design-build).
- Serve as the on-site safety lead and primary liaison with the Safety Manager, project managers, subcontractors, and client representatives to coordinate safety activities and expectations.
- Conduct daily and weekly site inspections and safety audits; identify hazards, document findings, and track corrective actions to closure.
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and permit-required tasks focused on high-risk activities, with special emphasis on electrical safety and energized work controls.
- Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and timely reporting; implement corrective actions and lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and targeted training (including electrical safety, fall protection, lockout/tagout) for craft and supervision; maintain training records.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of construction safety experience, with demonstrated time as a Safety Superintendent or Safety Manager on commercial or multi-trade projects.
- Proven electrical knowledge or experience supporting electrical construction crews, including competency in electrical safety practices and review of electrical work plans.
- Strong familiarity with OSHA regulations and standards; OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required, OSHA certifications (e.g., OSHA 510/500 or similar) strongly preferred.
- Experience across a range of project types including retail, renovation, tenant improvement, new construction, hotel/hospitality, multifamily, ground-up, and mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.
- Certifications such as CSP, CHST, or Construction Health and Safety Technician are a plus.
