Responsibilities
- Aid in developing and implementing strategies for reducing and eliminating injuries, illness, and other incidents.
- Support pre-job safety planning meetings to identify potential hazards and develop emergency response plans.
- Develop work safety and health plans and conduct safety and health audits, evaluations, inspections, and behavioral observations.
- Initiate, coordinate, and lead safety meetings and training programs.
- Assist in the investigation of injury, illness, and general liability incidents.
- Provide updated information on company or regulatory requirement changes.
- Identify team members needing assistance, training, or support related to safety and health requirements.
- Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, vendors, and third-party personnel.
- Communicate with federal, state, or municipal safety or risk management authorities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Safety and Health or equivalent experience.
- 3-6+ years of experience in safety and health in the construction industry, with experience in heavy civil/industrial construction a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations, as well as other state/federal safety regulations and company policies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a high-production environment.
- Ability to make independent judgments and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Ability to positively interact and influence front-line supervisors and field personnel.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification preferred.
