Safety Specialist - Data Center

About the Role

The Safety Specialist supports the Project Team in developing and sustaining an Incident and Injury Free Culture (IIFC) while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. This role provides technical support, collaborates on safety roadmaps, and reports to the assigned Project Safety Manager, Senior Project Safety Manager, or Area Safety Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen with quality safety planning.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks and log observations in the leading indicator system.
• Meet regularly with field personnel to develop project-specific corrective action plans for safety issues.
• Provide constructive feedback to project leadership on safety improvements and recognition.
• Coach employees on safe behaviors and recognize those exhibiting them.
• Assist with job site-specific safety orientations for new employees.
• Co-facilitate basic safety training (HazCom, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tag-out, etc.).
• Support Project Leadership in incident investigations and facilitate injury/illness cases.
• Perform periodic evaluations of power tools and equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection).
• Monitor and evaluate CEI/Subcontractor compliance with safety regulations and report risks to leadership.
• Support the development and execution of weekly toolbox safety meetings.
• Attend daily safety meetings, audit topics, evaluate crew participation, and provide feedback on effectiveness.
• Evaluate the Flex & Stretch Program and ensure Foreman, GF, and Superintendents follow safety planning elements.

Requirements

• Understanding of electrical industry consensus standards (NFPA, NESC, ASTM, ANSI).
• Experience with a union workforce desired.
• Ability to work independently after sufficient training.
• Strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Work Environment

• Work involves standing, walking, sitting, climbing, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
• Conducted in both indoor office settings and outdoor construction job sites with varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to drive throughout expansive work sites (via buggy, car, truck, etc.).
• Occasional work at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
• CPR/First Aid Certified (Trainer Preferred).
• STS and STSC certification preferred, along with other safety certifications.
• One (1) to three (3) years of construction safety experience (electrical safety preferred).
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).

Pay

$33.00/hour to $45.00/hour, with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Starting pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
