Safety Specialist

About the role

Olin Winchester, LLC is seeking a Safety Specialist to work at the US Army’s premier small caliber manufacturing facility in Independence, MO. The ideal candidate will develop, manage, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops, manages, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
• Conducts audits of procedures, facilities, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and implement effective safeguards and solutions.
• Investigate incidents to determine root causes and establish corrective actions, emphasizing continuous improvement in safety practices.
• Provides safety support across manufacturing operations, maintenance, ballistics, and various projects, including modernization and construction efforts.
• Performs ergonomic analyses and reviews to enhance workplace safety and comfort.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health or Safety Management related field preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge is preferred.
• Demonstrates critical thinking skills to evaluate solutions, conclusions, and problem-solving approaches effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Possesses strong presentation skills to deliver safety and training sessions as required.

Location-Specific Requirements

• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• Must successfully vet as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
• Must successfully vet for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
• Must be a US citizen.
