Safety Specialist

Brief Description

Provides experienced-level support in the development, implementation, and oversight of safety programs across multiple job sites.

Essential Job Functions

• Review compliance with policies and procedures at job sites.
• Conduct walkthrough inspections at project sites with project personnel.
• Assist in the Coordination of insurance and employee medical treatment.
• Manage workers’ compensation programs and coordinate insurance claims.
• Communicate lessons learned from near misses, accidents, and incidents.
• Conduct safety training for employees.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project managers and superintendents.
• Recommend modifications to policies and procedures as needed to reduce the occurrence of these events.
• Conduct reviews of sites to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards and company policies.
• Monitor subcontractor’s safety performance.
• Assist in the presentations to employees and subcontractors for safety-related meetings and presentations.
• Assist in the tracking and trend of near misses, first aid injuries, incidents, accidents, and recordable injuries.
• Foster a culture of safety by supporting best practices and regulatory requirements at the state, federal, and local levels, as well as contractual obligations in collaboration with S&P operational leadership.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification is strongly preferred.
• CHST certification.
• Incident investigation 1926 knowledge.
