Safety Specialist/Assistant Project Manager

About the role

ACI Mechanical is seeking a Safety Specialist/Assistant Project Manager to coordinate safety efforts, ensure compliance, lead safety training, and handle special projects. Safety coordination is the primary focus, with Assistant Project Manager duties to follow.

Responsibilities

Safety Specialist Duties

• Ensure all current and future employees receive proper safety policy orientation.
• Recommend and accompany IOSHA Consultation Division inspections, involving the QC Inspector and/or jobsite superintendent.
• Work directly with field employees to address safety concerns and communicate findings to leadership.
• Review, investigate, and recommend improvements for on-the-job accidents.
• Inspect ACI vehicles, tools, and equipment; report unsafe conditions to leadership.
• Prepare and gather safety information to effectively communicate standards and procedures.
• Ensure all subcontractors adhere to ACI’s and the customer’s safety policies.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Assistant Project Manager Duties

• Complete job opening paperwork in a timely manner.
• Set up and maintain project books, post addendums, bid changes, and submit reviews.
• Acquire quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
• Copy and file construction documents.
• Track material deliveries, price and input change requests, perform quantity takeoffs, check material orders, and prepare/process O&Ms.
• Communicate with staff, customers, vendors, architects, and engineers.
• Attend job-related meetings and provide project information.
• Monitor job progress, deliver/pick up information, and maintain drawings.
• Assist in estimating and purchasing on a per-job basis.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years in a construction safety role or similar.
• OSHA10 and OSHA30 certification required.
• CPR certified.
• Driving record meets company requirements.
• Successful passing of pre-employment drug screening.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based, with occasional out-of-town and overnight travel. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noises, and outdoor conditions (heat, humidity, cold, wind, dust) within OSHA standards. Physical demands include:

• Carrying up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
• Standing for long periods, walking moderate-to-long distances on varying surfaces.
• Climbing, crawling, crouching, reaching, gripping, pushing, and pulling without issue.
