Responsibilities
- Developing, updating and maintaining firmwide safety programs and procedures to be compliant with OSHA, State and USG Safety Regulations
- Providing training for OSHA 10-hour, 30-hour and HAZWOPER
- Updating and maintaining WRA’s Safety Program and Policies in the Employee Handbook and on WRA’s intranet web site
- Managing client safety programs for construction projects
- Conducting random site safety audits for construction projects and field operations
- Providing safety training and issuance of safety equipment to all assigned field personnel
- Preparing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA)
- Reviewing contractors’ safety plans for compliance with the construction contract submittal requirements
Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years full-time safety inspection for construction site safety audits
- Minimum High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate
- Associates Degree in Occupational Safety preferred
- Familiarity with preparing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) for WRA site or field visits by both A/E and CMI personnel
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification, OSHA 500 preferred
- American Red Cross First Aid Safety Certification required
- Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) are desirable
- Experience with using construction safety software applications for preparing and documenting reports including site location mapping utilizing ArcGIS applications
- Valid driver’s license; good driving record and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites
- Ability to work independently
- Experience and knowledge in construction site safety requirements
- Familiarity with accessing confined spaces and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding to access remote high-level work areas as well as traversing rough terrain for long distances to inspect construction work sites
Physical Requirements
- The ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions
- Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
- Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles to access remote high-level work areas requiring fall-protection harnesses
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing
- Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting—for extended periods of time
- Performing repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Functioning safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document
