Safety Management
The Safety Professional is responsible for managing safety within the facility and ensuring compliance with both facility and corporate safety standards. This includes implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and upholding company and facility safety rules, policies, and procedures.
The Safety Professional also leads safety discussions, encourages engagement, and inspires others to work safely and effectively. They identify and implement methods to prevent accidents, maintain a safe work environment, and build a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite, assist project management in developing site-specific safety programs, and conduct safety orientation and training
- Provide safety counseling and coaching to employees to promote safe work practices and methods
- Ensure all employees have and maintain OSHA training
- Develop and deliver training based on the analysis of employee functions as needed
- Maintain monthly maintenance and reporting of BBS for company reporting
- Develop, review, and provide possible updates as needed for safety plans
- Document, report, and track safety violations/incidents
- Conduct worksite observations
- Analyze leading and trailing indicator safety data
- Maintain company and government compliance
- Develop and implement frameworks for risk management
- Interpret and communicate B&D’s policies and procedures to team members and external stakeholders
- Deliver clear, effective presentations and engage in public-speaking situations
- Demonstrate strong active-listening and clear communication to ensure openness to diverse perspectives and feedback
- Collaborate closely with team members while showing initiative, problem-solving, effective communication, and leadership skills
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor and provide strong customer service skills
- Manage change regarding organization-wide initiatives
- Research and strategize on emerging and complex risks
- Collaborate across the business on varying enterprises
Physical Demands and Requirements
- Long hours of sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, climbing, and site walks
- Intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- A Bachelor's in Environmental Health and Safety, Business Administration, or a relevant field is preferred
- 5+ years of direct safety experience are required
- A valid OSHA 500 or CHST certification is required
