Role Overview
The Safety Professional oversees Construction Project Safety, Health (S&H), and Risk Management, developing and implementing site-specific safety plans and collaborating with Project Management on operational risk processes. They coordinate with contractors and clients, participate in meetings to advise on mitigation strategies, and assist in creating Accident Prevention Programs and training plans to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Operational Risk Management (ORM) team in safety planning, incident investigation, and compliance.
- Review project safety plans based on specifications, regulations, and safety systems.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and other safety standards through training, permits, and site inspections.
- Manage safety budgets, conduct hazard analyses, and promote a safety culture on-site.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 6+ years with a high school diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in safety training, regulatory compliance, and safety management systems (ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, ISO 31000).
- Knowledge of OSHA, EM-385, and construction safety practices.
- Certification aspirations include ASP, CSP, or CHST, with a safety-related degree or training from an ABET-accredited program.
- Previous experience in electrical, industrial, construction, or federal safety environments.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and training skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint.
- Ability to interpret safety standards, conduct hazard analyses, and build safety culture.
- Physical ability to work in various site conditions, with good dexterity and communication skills.
