Vessel Type: Jack-Up Barge
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies on board the jack-up barge.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of equipment, machinery, and work areas.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Organize and lead safety meetings and drills, including emergency response exercises.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for prevention.
- Train and educate crew members on safety procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
- Monitor and ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment, such as lifeboats, fire-fighting systems, and gas detection devices.
- Collaborate with the vessel’s management team to develop and update the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure the vessel adheres to international safety standards, such as ISM Code, SOLAS, and MARPOL.
Requirements
- Certification as a Safety Officer or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.
- Valid STCW certification, including Basic Safety Training (BST) and Advanced Fire Fighting.
- Experience working as a Safety Officer or in a similar role on board a jack-up barge or offshore vessel.
- Knowledge of international maritime safety regulations, including ISM Code, SOLAS, and MARPOL.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification processes.
- Ability to conduct safety training and drills for crew members.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging offshore environments.
