Safety Officer

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Safety Officer to join our team in Fall Church, Virginia. The Safety Officer works on a full-time basis under direction of the Program Manager and directly supports the program’s security personnel.

Responsibilities

• Daily safety site inspections and maintenance of logs
• Conducting investigations and enforcing safety protocols
• Maintaining safety reference materials and programs
• Facilitating employee safety training and emergency preparedness
• Attending and reviewing relevant Job Hazard Assessments and Safety Data Sheets
• Ensuring proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and training
• Performing other position-related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

• Associate's degree in a Safety and Health related discipline from an accredited institution
• Completed OSHA 30-Hour Construction safety training course within the last five years
• Minimum of five years of safety work on similar projects
• U.S. Citizenship and active Top-Secret Security Clearance
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to travel to remote locations
• Ability to work in austere or inhospitable high-stress environments

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and workplace safety regulations
• Familiarity with the U.S. Government Federal Acquisition Regulations
• Written communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Experience in construction site safety and compliance

Skills

• Knowledge of industrial safety programs and best practices
• Ability to use computers and Microsoft Office applications

Pay

$80,000-$90,000
