Safety & Occupational Health Manager.

Duties

Manage and administer the Safety and Occupational Health program.

Manage surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting.

Oversee safety aspects of Civil Works Project Operations.

Assess contractor compliance with contractual requirements.

Inspect the district, organizations, facilities, and operations including all government-occupied buildings and quarters, construction sites and work sites, etc., to ensure compliance with appropriate safety rules, regulation and guidelines.

Formulate District policies and provide program direction by issuing regulations, standards, and technical guidance.

Requirements

Conditions of employment: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Position may be designated Mission Essential.

Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required up to 25%.

This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Supervisor (CSRA).

A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

• One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Providing guidance on safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards; (2) Developing techniques to control and/or eliminate hazardous conditions; (3) Performing field surveys of construction and maintenance work sites for compliance with policies and standards; and (4) Presenting briefings and reports for presentations and/or meetings.
• One year of specialized experience which includes implementing a safety and occupational health program which requires the planning, organizing, and evaluation of a program with diverse but recognized hazards in areas such as construction and engineering environments; achieving compliance with regulatory provisions and/or effectively communicating multiple safety and occupational health practices and/or procedures to staff and line personnel.
