Safety Measurement & Insights Lead
About the Role
The Safety Risk Measurement & Insights Lead owns how Uber defines, measures, and reasons about safety risk on the platform. This role ensures that indicators of safety risk (both outcome metrics like Safety Incident Rate and leading, input, and predictive signals) are well-defined, governed, trusted, and continuously improved. It translates these metrics into clear, actionable insights for business leadership and external reporting. This role unifies metric definitions, strengthens data quality, accelerates insight generation, and improves how safety performance is understood and acted upon across the organization. It also shapes how Safety uses smarter tooling and AI-enabled workflows to scale measurement, analytics, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Metric Governance & Foundations: Drive governance for Safety's critical metrics, including Incident Rate and leading indicators. Recommend durable definitions, inclusion/exclusion logic, auditability, lineage, and consistency over time. Ensure metric frameworks remain credible as the platform evolves.
- Data Quality & Measurement Integrity: Serve as Safety's measurement steward, leading end-to-end accountability for data quality and reliability. Partner with DS/Eng/Ops to resolve issues and establish monitoring and escalation mechanisms.
- Analytical Investigation & Insight Generation: Lead deep dives into performance shifts, emerging risks, and measurement anomalies. Combine quantitative analysis with operational context to identify root causes and actionable next steps. Turn insights into clear, credible narratives for leaders.
- AI-Enabled Insights & Scalable Workflows: Define and advance Safety analytics by automating recurring analysis, improving self-serve access, and using AI-enabled workflows to accelerate insight generation without compromising rigor.
- Safety Ops Enablement: Enable Safety Operations and regional partners to use trusted safety metrics consistently. Build dashboards, reporting tools, education materials, and analytical resources to improve understanding and decision-making.
- Reporting & Decision Support: Ensure executive- and external-facing reporting is rigorous, defensible, and efficient, with clear methodology and a consistent measurement framework.

- Analytical Leadership & Data Acumen: Strong analytical foundation with the ability to understand statistical concepts, challenge assumptions, and turn complex data into actionable insights.
- Business Acumen & Strategic Thinking: Understanding of the broader business context and Safety's role, with the ability to frame trends and recommendations for executive decision-making.
- Influence & Communication: Excellent communicator with a track record of building trust, influencing stakeholders, and driving alignment without direct authority.
- Systems Thinking: Ability to understand end-to-end processes, dependencies, and organizational dynamics to identify root causes and durable solutions.
- AI & Analytical Innovation: Practical use of AI, automation, or emerging tools to accelerate insight generation and scale analytical work.
