Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company's safety program for fabrication facilities and construction job sites.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, customer, and company safety requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, vehicle accidents, and property damage events; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and track corrective action plans through completion.
- Conduct new hire orientations and required safety training.
- Deliver training including:
- OSHA Construction Safety
- Fall Protection
- Rigging and Signal Person
- Forklift/Powered Industrial Truck
- MEWP/Aerial Lift
- Hazard Communication
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans, Lift Plans, and Safe Work Procedures.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure compliance with contractual safety requirements.
- Manage OSHA recordkeeping, injury logs, and required safety documentation.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and prepare weekly and monthly performance reports.
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Perform audits for equipment inspections for fire extinguishes, forklifts, aerial lifts, rigging gear, and fall protection equipment.
- Support DOT and fleet safety compliance of site deliveries.
- Coordinate emergency response planning and drills.
- Promote continuous improvement through hazard recognition, employee engagement, and safety initiatives.
Reporting Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Senior Safety Manager that include:
- Safety performance metrics and trends
- OSHA recordable and first aid incidents
- Near misses and corrective actions
- Jobsite audit results
- Training completion status
- Open investigations
- Compliance issues
- Workers' compensation updates
- Subcontractor safety performance
- Fleet and equipment safety
- High-risk activities
- Emerging safety concerns
- Executive-level summaries and recommendations
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety management experience (Field steel fabrication and erection preferred)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and applicable 29 CFR 1910 standards
- Experience with cranes, rigging, structural steel erection, forklifts, MEWPs, and fall protection
- Excellent incident investigation and root cause analysis skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety management software
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Certifications
- CHST
- CSP
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction
- OSHA 500(Bonus)
- First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor (preferred)
