Safety Manager (Bilingual - Spanish)
Job Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all workplace safety programs and workers’ compensation functions at Olli Salumeria. This role ensures full compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations, federal OSHA standards, and California workers’ compensation law, while building a proactive safety culture across all departments of the production facility.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) per Cal/OSHA Title 8 §3203
- Manage the Cal/OSHA 300 Log, 300A Annual Summary, and 301 Incident Reports with accuracy and timeliness
- Lead workplace safety inspections, hazard identification, and corrective action tracking
- Conduct and coordinate safety training: new hire orientation, lockout/tagout, forklift, chemical handling, GMP, and emergency response
- Maintain the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) library and chemical inventory program
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis for injuries, near-misses, and property damage events
- Serve as primary point of contact for Cal/OSHA inspections and all regulatory agency communications
- Facilitate safety committee meetings and maintain meeting documentation
- Manage fire safety program: extinguisher inspections, evacuation drills, and Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
- Identify and develop safety policies, regulations, and procedures; advise leadership on compliance issues
- Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP requirements, SOPs, and SSOPs
- Remove or mitigate biological, physical, and chemical hazards from the workplace
- Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to drive continuous improvement
Workers’ Compensation Administration
- Administer all workers’ compensation claims from first report of injury (FROI) through return-to-work
- Coordinate with the company’s insurance carrier, and legal counsel as needed
- Manage the modified duty / return-to-work program and light duty assignments in coordination with supervisors and Human Resources
- Track claim costs, open reserves, and loss runs; present findings to leadership on a quarterly basis
- Monitor medical case management and ensure timely medical treatment authorization
- Identify trends in claims data and implement proactive safety improvements based on findings
- Ensure compliance with California Labor Code, WCAB requirements, and all reporting deadlines
Training & Learning Development
- Identify training needs within the organization from onboarding through the employee life cycle
- Collaborate with management to determine training needs, create curriculum, develop schedules, and facilitate sessions
- Conduct orientation programs and arrange on-the-job training for new hires
- Coordinate and monitor training enrollment, schedules, costs, and equipment
Qualification & Experience Requirements
- Education, Training: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Business, or related field
- ASP, CSP, or ARM certification preferred; OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry) required or obtained within 90 days, current First Aid/CPR/AED
- Experience Required: 5+ years of experience in an EHS, safety, or workers’ compensation role
- 3+ years in a food manufacturing or USDA/FDA-regulated production environment preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing Cal/OSHA compliance including 300 Log, IIPP, and incident investigation
- Experience administering workers’ compensation claims and working with an insurance carrier
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations and California workers’ compensation law
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop solutions
- Strong organizational skills; able to create timelines, budgets, and schedules
- Able to work in a fast-paced, production environment with frequent workload changes
Language, Computer & Numeracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to read and write in English required; Spanish language required to support communication across diverse teams
- Experience with LMS platforms and instructional technology a plus
- Experience with numerical data including units of measure, fractions, and conversions

Pay Range
$85,000-$110,000 Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
